Updated: 2025-06-16
The main event of the 2025 Cultural and Natural Heritage Day kicked off on June 13 at Zhangbi Ancient Castle in Jiexiu county-level city, Shanxi province. The event featured four distinctive themes and multiple innovative activities, showcasing Shanxi's achievements in cultural heritage preservation and utilization.
The documentary Shanxi in Ancient Buildings, meticulously crafted over six years, premiered at the event. It advocates against destructive development and promotes the "living inheritance" of cultural treasures through protection. The Shanxi Cultural Relics Protection Foundation was also inaugurated, providing a professional platform for public participation in heritage preservation.
The event also introduced the online interactive "Cultural Relics Emoji Challenge" and launched a map of 22 cultural heritage sites across 11 cities in Shanxi. The public is invited to explore the beauty of cultural relics in person and participate in creating online topics.
Shanxi has made significant strides in protecting its cultural heritage through innovative approaches. The Shanxi Culture Relics Bureau has implemented dutiful protection projects and used digital technology to create a "smart protection network" for ancient buildings and murals. A series of cultural and creative products that integrate historical heritage into modern life has also been launched.
The province has created themed study tours, such as "Ancient Building Exploration" and "Intangible Heritage Inheritance". It has actively built collaborative platforms, attracting social capital and cultivating professional volunteer teams to bring its cultural heritage to the international stage.
