The Shanxi Retail Business Association released a survey of 73 key retail enterprises in Shanxi province on June 17, revealing significant sales growth driven by the holiday economy and government subsidy policies.

The total sales of these key enterprises reached approximately 33.50 billion yuan ($4.66 billion) in the first five months of the year. The 73 key retail enterprises surveyed spanned 14 main business sectors, including 11 from the automotive sector, 10 from the shopping center sector, eight from the supermarket sector, and eight from the mobile and digital products sector.

Across the different sectors, online sales sector saw the highest year-on-year growth, with the first five months amounting to 2.81 billion yuan, marking a 48.81 percent increase. The mobile and digital products sector ranked second, with sales reaching approximately 688.8 million yuan, a 23.38 percent increase. The pedestrian street sector came in third, with sales of about 803.4 million yuan, growing 16.16 percent.

Monthly year-on-year comparisons indicate that holiday consumption and phased policy implementations have vitalized the overall market. January saw growth due to New Year's and Spring Festival celebrations. In March, the home appliance and home decoration sectors benefited from government subsidies, leading to a sales rebound. Sales then stabilized in April and May, with a slight decline observed.
