On the morning of Sept 12, the serene hum of propellers filled the air at New Nanzhang Airport in Ruicheng, North China's Shanxi province, as a "King Air 350" twin-turboprop aircraft ascended into the sky, marking the official opening of the short-haul air route between Ruicheng and Taiyuan, the provincial capital.

The inauguration of this air route serves as a crucial engine for propelling Ruicheng's low-altitude economy, while also signifying the integration of southern Shanxi into Taiyuan's "one-hour transport circle", substantially reducing travel time between Ruicheng and Taiyuan.

This development injects new vitality into regional economic collaboration and plays a pivotal role in promoting province-wide integration, thereby advancing the growth of the low-altitude economy.

In recent years, Ruicheng has focused on pioneering the development of the low-altitude economy as a key strategy for cultivating new quality productive forces and shaping new growth drivers, and made continuous efforts to promote the high-quality development of the general aviation industry.

As the province's first A1-class airport initiated by a county-level government, Ruicheng's New Nanzhang Airport has seen impressive growth since its opening in June 2023, with a safe flight record of 123,000 flights and 17,000 flight hours. From January to August this year, the airport has facilitated 40,960 flights, accumulating 7,190 flight hours, maintaining its position as the leading airport in the province.
