The 2025 Intangible Cultural and Natural Heritage Day promotional exhibition and the "Vibrant Taiyuan – Living Heritage" bazaar were held at Wuyue Plaza, Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on June 13.
The event showcased the city's rich intangible cultural heritage (ICH) resources, allowing visitors to experience its beauty up close. The performances were spectacular, with young inheritors shining brightly, including an original dance by the Taiyuan Arts School, an opera by the Youth Troupe of Taiyuan Jin Opera Research Institute, and a Northern-style lion dance by the Xihuamen Lion Dance Group, which delivered a feast of ICH artistry.
The Taiyuan ICH Food Map was released during the launch ceremony, highlighting representative ICH foods from 10 county-level cities and districts.
The "Vibrant Taiyuan – Living Heritage" bazaar was also abuzz with activities, featuring displays and sales of diverse ICH products.
In recent years, Taiyuan's culture and tourism sectors have advanced ICH protection and inheritance, exploring the integration of ICH into modern life and cross-sector synergies. The city now boasts 976 ICH projects and 903 inheritors at various levels, solidifying preservation and amplifying the role of ICH in socioeconomic development.
