Guguan Great Wall is located in Xinguan Village, Niangziguan Town, 35 kilometers east of Pingding County. As the west gate of Jingxingkou and one of the nine fortresses in the pre-Qin period, it is a key cultural relic under protection in Shanxi Province. It is the only existing stone-built Great Wall that is relatively intact in China. As the earliest Ming Great Wall, it is called small Badaling by famous Great Wall expert Luo Zhewen. It was constructed in 369 BC, and later restored by the generals of the Ming Dynasty. Its main relics include its southern section, which is about 7 kilometers long from Guguan Jiangjunyu to Baihuikou, and its northern section, which is about 13 kilometers long from Linghoudi to Jiayugou in Niangzi Pass. All the relics are located around mountains and are built with stones. Batteries, beacon towers and outposts are built on the important commanding heights of the wall. There are now 11 batteries and piers, two beacon towers, one outpost, one medicine building and three gate towers. Around the Great Wall, Xifeng Cave and more than a dozen temple relics such as Guandi Temple, Laomu Temple, Xuanwu Temple, Wenchang Temple and Sanguan Temple are integrated, forming spectacular landscapes.
