Established in June 1990, Yangquan Kindergarten is a provincial demonstration kindergarten affiliated to Yangquan Municipal Bureau of Education, which is also the first batch of five-star kindergartens in Yangquan. It has 60 teaching staff and more than 340 students in nine classes.

With an investment of 8.2 million yuan by the municipal government and bureau of education, renovations were made in teaching buildings, building special activity Room for children's games and outdoor plastic playground and purchasing first-class teaching facilities. The kindergarten has won a number of honorable titles for its achievements including the Shanxi provincial demonstration kindergarten and the Shanxi excellent kindergarten.

It was designated as provincial preschool teachers training base by the Provincial Department of Education in 2016, making great contribution to Shanxi's preschool education.
